Lieutenant General Michael S. Tucker
Lieutenant General Michael S. Tucker was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina and entered active duty as a Cavalry private in 1972. In 1979, after serving 2 years as a Basic Training Drill Sergeant at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri, he graduated as the Distinguished Military Graduate from
Officer Candidate School, and was commissioned an Armor Second Lieutenant.
Prior to his retirement following more than 44 years of active service, he served as the Commanding General, First Army, located at Rock Island Arsenal, Rock Island, Illinois. Lieutenant General Tucker had served previously as Commanding General, 2nd Infantry Division, Camp Red Cloud, Republic of Korea, and Commander, 1st Brigade, 1st Armored Division, Friedberg, Germany, which included deployments in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM.

entailed deployments in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM, OPERATION
ENDURING FREEDOM, DESERT SHIELD and DESERT STORM include Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3/5/7, Headquarters, Department of the Army, (Pentagon) Washington D.C.; Deputy Chief of Staff, Operations for the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) Kabul, Afghanistan; Deputy Commanding General, Walter Reed Army Medical Center and Assistant Surgeon General for Warrior Care, Office of the Surgeon General, Washington, D.C.; Deputy Commanding General and Commandant, U.S. Armor School, Ft. Knox, KY; Executive Officer to the Commanding General, U.S. Army Europe, Heidelberg, Germany; Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3, 3rd Infantry Division, Ft. Stewart, GA; Professor Military Science, United States Military Academy, West Point, NY;
and command at every level from platoon through division, and army.
Lieutenant General Tucker holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Social
Psychology from the University of Maryland, a Master of Science degree in Public Administration from Shippensburg University, Shippensburg, PA, and a Master's Degree in Military Arts and Science from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, Ft. Leavenworth, KS.
